Your Sound’s True Potential

Mixing and mastering bring the recordings you’ve made at home or in your own studio up to the sound quality of professionally released tracks. They raise the audio quality of your music to a high standard and make every element serve the song as a whole.

Mixing and mastering are two different stages that can’t be separated if you want your track to sound right. Never forget: a good master starts with a good mix!

Max. Tracks40
Headroom-6 dB
⚠️ Headroom Warning
For proper mastering we need at least -6 dB of HEADROOM, meaning dynamic range. This does not mean turning your master channel down to -6. Your master channel should stay at 0; instead, turn down the individual tracks so that the signal reaching the master channel peaks at -6 dB.

Mix & Mastering: FAQ

What’s the difference between mixing and mastering?

+

Mixing balances and processes the individual tracks of a song (5 to 40 tracks) into one coherent stereo mix. Mastering is the final step on that stereo mix, giving it the polish, loudness and consistency needed for release. A good master always starts with a good mix.

Can I send my files online from outside Turkey?

+

Yes. The whole process can be done online, so you can send your files from anywhere. If you’re in Istanbul, you can also work with us in person at our studio in Seyrantepe, Kağıthane.

Can we work together in English?

+

Yes. Founder Mehmet Akar, a mix & master engineer, speaks English, so you can discuss your track, references and revisions with us in English.

Which file formats do you accept?

+

Uncompressed WAV, FLAC or AIFF files at a minimum of 44.1 kHz and 24 bit. MP3, AAC and other compressed formats are not accepted. Leave at least -6 dB of headroom and no processing on the master channel.

How much does mix & mastering cost?

+

Pricing depends on the service (mixing, mastering or both) and the number of tracks. Message us on WhatsApp with your project details for a quote. If you’d rather work alongside an engineer in the studio, see the Fully Supported Session on our Studio Rental page.

Can I learn to mix and master my own tracks?

+

Yes. Besides this service, SonarHouse teaches a hands-on Mix & Mastering course using FabFilter and UAD plugins. See our Music Production Courses.
